At our Charleston site, we are currently looking for a Senior Engineer - Process Development, Silanes to join our growing team. Job Responsibilities The silanes development engineer provides process support and development engineering services for manufacturing and purifying chlorosilanes (chlorosilane reaction, distillation, conversion, and infrastructure) to produce hyperpure polycrystalline silicon to the semiconductor and solar markets. Optimization of the production processes is achieved by initiating, conducting, and managing investigations and projects focused on evaluating, improving, and validating processes, procedures, equipment, and supplies focused on safety, quality, stability , cost reduction, and productivity. Initiate, conduct, and manage projects to achieve process improvements in the chlorosilane purification systems (chlorosilane reaction, distillation, conversion and infrastructure) by testing, evaluating, improving, and validating processes, procedures, equipment, and supplies focused on safety, quality, reliability, cost reduction, and productivity. Participate in or lead interdepartmental teams or working groups to support operations and engineering in identifying and correcting deviations from standard processes, quality, or capabilities. Monitor and ensure continuous alignment of quality, processes, and products among corresponding departments, local management, and global partners. IP protection by patent application as needed as well as monitoring of competitor patents, researching information about technological trends and technology applied by competitors. Qualifications Required education:
B.S. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or closely related technical degree Preferred education:
M.S. or Ph.D. preferred in chemistry, chemical engineering, or closely related technical degree Minimum 5
years of related experience A team player attitude is essential for successfully collaborating with the various departments and levels of the organization including international colleagues. Established organizational and communication skills, necessary to be take ownership of projects and successful in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Strong systematic working style with the capability of professionally dealing with changing priorities and requirements. Basic understanding of instrumental analytics is preferred. Experience with database queries (e.g. SQL) and data processing software (e.g. Minitab) is preferred. Broad and interdisciplinary knowledge in Silicon and/or Chlorosilane chemistry preferred. Knowledge of and/or certification with Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification is a plus. Knowledge of general industrial wastewater treatment processes is a plus.Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or a related field Master's degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or a related field, preferred Knowledge of structure, property performance relationships in polymer coatings and/or basic knowledge of interfacial phenomena and rheology Minimum 4 years' experience in related field required Ability to translate an idea into a viable commercial product is essential. This includes, but is not limited to experimental planning, economic evaluation, manufacturing considerations, safety and regulatory compliance, intellectual property considerations etc. Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals, both on the technical side as well as the commercial side, is necessary. This includes both individuals within the company, as well as customers. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams. Strong commitment to environmental health and safety excellence. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Driven by curiosity and has a high level of engagement. Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
